Frequently Asked Questions

Is my phone system is equipped for music on hold?
Most business systems are, however it's best to check your owner's manual or contact your telecom service provider and ask about your specific model. Units that are equipped generally have an input somewhere on the central unit (KSU) labeled "MOH" or "Music On Hold."

Can I still have on hold audio without a business phone system?
Yes. We have a couple hardware options that connect directly to your regular analog phones (up to four lines, not compatible with call waiting). Visit Flashpoint Studios for details.

Can't I just play the radio or a regular CD on hold?
You can, however to do so legally requires that you pay for yearly licenses from ASCAP and/or BMI. Another disadvantage to the radio is you can't control the content and the reception can fade. . . both of which can have an adverse effect on your callers.

What are the advantages to using digital players?
Digital on-hold players are more reliable than CD players since they have no moving parts during operation. We recommend our OHP line of on-hold players due to their excellent sound quality, trouble-free operation, high reliability and low cost. They offer 3 year warranties from our manufacturer.

What about other players?
We've stopped recommending portable cd players due to reliability issues. Some other on-hold players (notably tape based players) are acceptable to some, but can have lower sound quality and are significantly more expensive than our systems. Flashpoint's digital players are offered at significant discount to MSRP.
